POOR GOVERNANCE LEADS TO SOCIETAL DYSFUNCTION

The political system need to mediate the relationship between private wealth & public power. System that fails, risk a dysfunctional government captured by wealthy interest. Corruption is one symptom of such failure with private willingness to pay trumping public goals.
If corruption is endemic, then efforts to promote good governance must be broader. Poor Governance is a term whose meaning shifts with the people. It can be described as the prevailing corruption in the society or provoking cast or religion based violence or pointless strategies providing narrow benefits or misuse of public power for private or political gain.
Pointing to the magnitude of the problem and diversity of circumstances that produce corruption & poor governance, it is difficult to impose changes overnight. Recognizing the need of improved governance, carefully tailored policies should be carried out. However it is important not to overlook reform possibilities in this area. Some reforms, if well designed and implemented, would have large benefits in long run under a strong leadership committed to resolve the problems caused by Poor Governance.
