  • Mayawati questions need for demonetisation if Centre wanted to convert black money into white

    After the Centre introduced a Bill in the Lok Sabha that gives tax defaulters an opportunity to come clean by paying tax and penalties, BSP supremo Mayawati said, if the government had another voluntary income disclosure scheme, then they should not have pulled old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes out of circulation.
    Mayawati told the media, “In a new Bill proposed by the Centre in the Lok Sabha that gives tax defaulters an opportunity to come clean by paying tax and penalties, in this regard, the only thing that my party would like to say is that if they had plans like these, then why did they decided to demonetize 500 and 1,000 rupee currency?”

    Due to undersupply of cash, 85 branches of the district’s Sarva UP Gramin Bank are cashless since 5 days. The account holders of the bank are facing troubles and returning back to their home with grief from past 5 days. The District’s currency chests of Punjab National Bank, SBI Bank and Allahabad Bank have also raised their hands.
    The bank employees stated that since so many days our bank is not receiving currency from RBI due to which the quarreling sets in between the account holders and bank employees. They even stated that due to currency demonetization not even the public but also the bank employees are facing hurdles and discomfort.
